Petter and wife Pernilla take overall honors at Rally Sweden Historic
“So it’s been a great couple of days out here at Official Rally Sweden. Pernilla and I fought back today and took the overall Historics victory by almost 2 minutes! Great conditions, so many fans, and my Viking Motorsports MkII Escort ran like a banshee with only a slight gearbox problem. My man Phil Mills had continually told me to shift at 9400 rpm, but I kept ringing her out to 10,400.. The car just revs and revs. It’s an unbelievable machine, and I bought it to use it!
Thanks again everyone. We’ll have some celebration tonight, then it’s back to concentrating on our DS3 build, and our shift to RallyCross. See you all soon..”
Driving hard in their Ford Escort Mk2, built by Viking Motorsport, Petter and Co-Driver Pernilla Solberg battled back to take top honors.
In the studded rwd Escort, the Solbergs fought against a potent awd Audi Quattro in order to not only win their class, but win overall in Historic Classification.
Huge support from fans, and proper winter rally conditions filled the pair with confidence, and they found a very enjoyable outlet to fill Petters lack of seat time in a rally car so far this season. Something he’s of course been missing.
That gap will be completely filled soon, as Petter and team work hard to finish their Citroen DS3 RallyCross car and take aim.
Announcements of team details and the series that is decided upon will be coming very soon.
