Rally and environment

When talking about protection of the environment, rallying is not on the toplist. But a lot of things are done to help protect the environment.

All rally-cars on Ethanol in the WRC, would be the best. This would reduce the amount of CO2-emissions with 80%. During Swedish Rally 2007 three cars completed using only Ethanol. FIA-president Max Mosley has declared that in 3-5 years Ethanol will be the new kind of fuel in the WRC.

The fuel used today is petrol. All cars use the same kind, and all cars fill up at the same place (organized by the organizer). By doing it this way, the teams does not have to carry their own petrol, nor storing it.

Remote-service is another environmental benefit. To avoid rallycars driving back to the main servicepark, the teams bring a “mini-servicepark” out were the cars are.

All parts and equipment are built to last more than one rally. Meaning the same engine has to be used in two rallies.

As an organiszer Rally Norway bought environmental quotas through the Norwegian organisation “Framtiden i våre hender”, to compensate for the CO2 emissions during the event. The total emission was estimated to be 189 ton.

I hope the ethanol smells as good as the normal petrol when the cars go past… i love standing there and a few seconds after the car goes past you, you get the waft of fumes, smells great and i take a big deep breath… not good for my asthma i know, but its only for a few weekends a year… he he
and harold i think the drivers all get the same fuel from same pumps, as for how much goes into each car, i think that is calculated by the engineers depending on how many road miles and how many stage miles before the next refuel… i guess the different makes of car would use slightly different amounts depending on fuel consumption…

Hi Eileen your right the smells off the petrol is very fine and also the smoke of the tyres. Thanks for the info about the tank capacity and the fuel. i want only know iff the capacity is others than into 2005 that car has a capacity off 80 litres fuel tank capacity, and the capacity off the engine whas 1994 cc with a flat 4-cylinder v 16 valve and Turbocharged and 300 bhp so is that capacity now again or others. The bhp is the same but all others that info i realy wants. maybe someone can telling me. But thanks for your info Eileen

  5. Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
