Petter ended with 4th best time in Shakedown, New Zealand. Jari-Matti Latvala set the fastest time, while Grønholm and Atkinson follows as number 2 and 3. Henning ended 5th, and Loeb 11th. Shakedown is the final test before the rally starts, and the result is not included in the rally.

Shakedown is always done on Thursdays before the rally starts. It is the final test before the rally begins. Shakedown is run at a 3 km closed road, and it should reflect the conditions the driver will meet on the stages through out the rally. The drivers are allowed to have as many run as they want, between 0800 and 1100hrs. Sometimes the even bring a technician instead of the codriver, just to make the car perfect.

The first stage of Rally New Zealand starts Friday morning at 0918 local time, GMT 2118 Thursday evening.
