Petter and Chris 4th in Rally Portugal

A drama-filled Rally Portugal is completed, with Petter and Chris 4th in the overall classification.

Petter and Chris started the weekend with winning the 2 first stages, before the very challenging and difficult weather conditions sent them off the road on Friday. Having to retire from the rally and continue Saturday under Rally 2 regulations, the way back to score points seemed though. However being fastest on 8 of 19 stages in total, the guys made their way from 12th to 4th in the overall classification. A power-steering failure also cost them more than a minute on Saturday evening.

It has been an event with a lot of ups and downs, excitement and disappointment for not only Petter and Chris. Jari-Matti Latvala also went off the road under the difficult conditions on Friday and came back under Rally 2 regulations on Saturday. In addition a fuel pressure problem caused him valuable time on Saturday. Sebastien Loeb rolled off the road on Thursday, and retired.

Mikko Hirvonen won Rally Portugal. Mads Østberg claimed a fantastic 2nd, while Evgeny Novikov ended 3rd and secured his first WRC podium. Petter Solberg and Chris Patterson ended 4th.
